DOBOT Atom
Dobot · China · 2025
The first humanoid from China's largest cobot exporter, in mass production since June 2025. Dobot builds it around industrial-grade repeatability of +/-0.05 mm rather than around a demo reel.
DOBOT Atom is the first humanoid built by Dobot, a Shenzhen cobot maker founded in 2015 and listed on the Main Board of the Hong Kong Stock Exchange in 2024. That lineage shows in what the company chose to advertise. Where most humanoid launches lead with walking footage, Dobot leads with a repeatability figure of +/-0.05 mm and names the tasks it is meant to cover: electronic soldering, precision calibration, and picking cherries without crushing them. The upper body carries 28 degrees of freedom driven by what Dobot calls the Neuro-Driven Dexterity System - a transformer-based controller with binocular RGB vision, servo-level vibration suppression and a 200 Hz control loop. Locomotion uses the Anthropomorphic Walking System, which walks with straight knees instead of the crouched gait typical of bipeds; Dobot puts the resulting saving at 42% less energy than bent-knee walking and presents it primarily as an endurance and stability argument for continuous shift work. Task-level autonomy comes from Robot Operator Model-1, a 100-million-parameter policy trained by imitation and reinforcement learning that decomposes instructions and runs end-to-end at 24 Hz. The robot is specified to work at bench heights between 700 and 1000 mm and supports multi-robot coordination through an onboard edge computer that Dobot rates at 7.7 times the computing power it treats as the industry norm. The commercial milestone matters more than the specification sheet. On 27 June 2025 in Nagoya, Dobot declared global mass production and handed over the first batch of Atoms on stage, with Japanese systems integrator ASKA Corporation as the delivery partner - a rare case of a humanoid leaving the prototype stage into a named industrial channel. Dobot describes the target work as repetitive industrial and commercial duty: line-side material handling in automotive plants, drink preparation in coffee shops, and overnight dispensing in pharmacies. One gap is worth stating plainly: Dobot does not publish Atom's height, mass, battery capacity or runtime on its own product page or in the launch release. Figures circulating in resellers' listings and aggregator databases are not confirmed by the manufacturer, so this profile leaves them out rather than repeating them.
