DOBOT Hexplorer is the six-legged machine that completed Dobot's robot line-up. When Shenzhen-listed Dobot presented it in July 2025, the company claimed to be the first in the world to sell robotic arms, a full-size humanoid and a legged field platform from one catalogue, all sharing the same embodied-AI stack. The engineering argument is the leg count. A hexapod always keeps three feet on the ground in an alternating tripod gait, so the body forms a stable triangle instead of constantly catching itself the way a biped or a quadruped does. Dobot turns that into three claims it is willing to put numbers on: posture stability on wet, loose and uneven ground; a pulling force of roughly five times the robot's own mass; and a motion noise level of 55 dB or less, measured a metre from the machine on thin carpet. The last figure is the unusual one - legged robots are normally loud because they stamp to keep balance, and Dobot argues that a naturally low-impact gait plus high-torque, low-noise motors removes the need to stamp at all. The published specification is unusually complete for a Chinese launch. Standing, the robot measures 86.3 x 47 x 48 cm and folds down to 24.4 cm in height for transport. It weighs about 20 kg, carries 10 kg rated (15 kg maximum), walks at up to 1.8 m/s, steps over 20 cm obstacles and handles slopes up to 40 degrees. A 504 Wh battery gives 2.5 hours of operation and the knee joints peak at 33 Nm. Perception is off-the-shelf and well known to researchers: a Livox Mid-360 lidar, an Intel RealSense D435 depth camera, an IMU and joint-level force sensing, feeding terrain-recognition and motion-control algorithms trained with reinforcement learning. Onboard computing is a x86 Core i5/i7 platform with a 40 TOPS GPU, running Ubuntu 22.04 with ROS 2 Humble pre-installed. That software choice tells you who the buyer is. Dobot ships Python and C++ SDKs at both low and high level, documents the sensor and joint data streams, and supports plugging in custom locomotion, terrain and path-planning modules plus third-party lidars, cameras and edge computers, with MuJoCo and ROS 2 simulation environments provided. The robot is aimed at teaching and research labs, industrial inspection in power plants, mines and chemical sites, and service work. Three accessories - a long-range teleoperation and video link, wireless automatic charging and a collaborative arm kit - are listed by the manufacturer as optional and not yet released, so the arm-equipped configuration shown in marketing material is not something a buyer can order today.
