DOBOT LUMO is the machine with which Dobot turned from factories towards living rooms. Presented on 5 August 2026, it is the company's third humanoid after the industrial Atom and the teleoperation rig X-Trainer, and the first one it describes in the language of companionship instead of throughput. Dobot calls it the world's first embodied all-terrain humanoid - a marketing claim rather than a measurable one, but it points at what the robot is actually built to do: walk out of the house. Launch footage shows LUMO crossing grass, sand and cobblestone with an upright human-like gait and moving between outdoor ground, a home and an office without being re-set for each. At roughly 1.3 metres it is deliberately small - shorter than a work humanoid, about the height of a ten-year-old child, which is the scale the company is aiming at. Dobot builds the robot on its own Kongyi embodied foundation model and names three capabilities as the core of the product. The first is multimodal emotion perception: LUMO fuses what it sees with what it hears to judge a person's emotional state and, according to the company, to act without waiting for a command. The second is three-dimensional spatial understanding combined with active movement, backed by high-precision navigation and obstacle avoidance. The third is autonomous learning from real-world use, which Dobot presents as long-term improvement in the household it lives in rather than as a fixed feature set. The second market is education, and there the offer is more concrete. Dobot sells LUMO as an embodied-AI teaching and development platform for schools, vocational colleges, universities and research groups, open to secondary development and mapped onto a course structure: robotics fundamentals, motion control, embodied AI algorithms, SLAM navigation, visual perception and human-robot interaction. That is the same pattern the company used with its Magician arms, which built its education business. What is missing is the engineering. Dobot has published no mass, no degrees of freedom, no actuator data, no battery capacity, no runtime, no walking speed, no price and no delivery schedule; the launch demonstrations of boxing, dancing and a backflip are the only performance evidence in circulation. Until there is a data sheet or a sales channel, this profile carries LUMO as a prototype rather than a product, and deliberately leaves the specification table nearly empty instead of filling it from aggregator listings.
