FLUX1.1 [pro]

FLUX1.1 [pro] arrived on 2 October 2024 as the commercial turn in Black Forest Labs' story. It shipped together with the general availability of the BFL API in beta, and the pitch was not a new capability but throughput: six times faster generation than the original FLUX.1 [pro], with improvements in image quality, prompt adherence and output diversity rather than a trade against them. BFL also updated FLUX.1 [pro] itself to run twice as fast for identical output. The model made its reputation before it had a name. BFL entered it into the Artificial Analysis image arena under the codename blueberry, where it took the highest overall Elo score on the leaderboard as of 1 October 2024 — the announcement leaned on that independent result rather than on internal charts. Pricing was set below the model it replaced: 4 cents per image for FLUX1.1 [pro], against 5 cents for FLUX.1 [pro] and 2.5 cents for the open FLUX.1 [dev]. Access came through the BFL API and through Together.ai, Replicate, fal.ai and Freepik. The announcement described fast ultra-high-resolution generation as coming soon, with the model natively able to produce up to 2K images without losing prompt following. This is an API-only, closed-weights product — the open member of that generation is FLUX.1 [dev]. FLUX1.1 [pro] sits between the first FLUX generation and the later FLUX 2 and FLUX 3 lines, all of which have their own profiles in this catalogue.
