HMND 01 Alpha Wheeled

HMND 01 Alpha Wheeled is the commercial platform of Humanoid, the London company that in July 2026 became Europe's first pure-play humanoid unicorn. It keeps the humanoid upper body of the bipedal Alpha - 29 degrees of freedom, the same modular wrist with either a 12-DoF five-finger hand or a single-DoF parallel gripper, the same KinetIQ software stack on NVIDIA compute - and drops the legs for a wheeled base. The trade is visible in the numbers: 220 cm tall and 300 kg against the biped's 179 cm and 90 kg, at the same 15 kg payload, the same 2 m/s and the same four-hour average runtime. The legs are what the customers did not want. Humanoid's binding agreement with Schaeffler, signed in May 2026 and structured as robots-as-a-service, covers a four-digit number of wheeled units across the group's global plants by 2032, with the first phase running from December 2026 to June 2027 at Herzogenaurach, where the robots handle boxes in live production, and Schweinfurt, used for capability demonstrations and integration testing. A separate five-year supply contract makes Schaeffler the preferred supplier of more than half of Humanoid's joint actuators through 2031, and Bosch is lined up to build the machines. The company lists the wheeled Alpha under an Early Access programme and names Schaeffler, Siemens and SAP as partners; no price is published. For a European humanoid programme this is an unusually concrete order book, but the volume deployments still sit in the future - the first contracted phase has not started.
