Kassow's heavy end: 40 kg of payload over 1200 mm on seven axes, and the first KR arm whose repeatability the manufacturer actually publishes.
Announced on 10 April 2026 alongside the KR1824, the KR1240 is the first Kassow arm built for heavy handling rather than reach. It carries 40 kg over 1200 mm on the seven-axis kinematics the Danish maker has used since 2018, which means the redundant joint can fold the arm around obstacles that stop a conventional six-axis machine of the same payload class. The jump in capability comes from new joints rather than a new architecture: Kassow quotes 1.5x higher joint torque, roughly 20 percent faster wrist joints and 40 percent more mechanical stiffness than the five earlier KR models. The cost is size and mass. The base grows from the 160 x 160 mm shared by most of the range to 194 x 194 mm, and the arm weighs 80 kg - more than twice the 35 kg KR1410 - so this is no longer a cobot two people carry between workstations. One detail matters beyond the spec sheet. For its first five arms Kassow published no repeatability figure at all, in a market where every competitor prints one. The KR1240 brochure gives +/-0.03 mm, the tightest number in the series and comparable with six-axis cobots of similar payload. Protection also improves to IP56 and noise drops below 67 dB(A). Like every KR model the arm is available in the Edge Edition, with the controller folded into the base for mobile platforms.
