One machine, three bodies: TRON 2 rebuilds into a walker, a wheeled-leg robot or a stationary dual-arm workstation.
TRON 2 is the second generation of LimX Dynamics' modular research robot, announced on 18 December 2025. Its argument is configurability: the same platform is assembled as a bipedal walker on soles, as a wheeled-legged machine, or as a stationary dual-arm manipulator, so one purchase covers locomotion research and manipulation research instead of two. Each arm has 7 degrees of freedom with a 73 cm reach, which LimX describes as the largest workspace in its class; a single arm handles 5 kg, or 3 kg fully extended, and the two together carry 10 kg on desktop tasks. The supplied gripper opens to 85 mm and grips at 20 N. Mobility depends on the configuration: on soles the robot reaches 2-3 m/s and climbs 15-degree slopes; on wheels it reaches 3-5 m/s and 30-degree slopes. Carrying capacity is quoted at 30 kg on flat ground and 20 kg while climbing stairs. Perception comes from RGBD cameras at the waist, head and wrist plus an IMU. The battery is ternary lithium with quick swap, charging from 20 to 80 percent in 30 minutes and fully in 54 minutes. Software is a native VLA - vision-language-action - platform with Python, ROS 1 and ROS 2 support, an open SDK and mainstream simulators. Trade press at launch put the entry price near 7,000 US dollars, which for a machine of this reach is unusually low; LimX does not publish a price list on the product page.
