Midjourney V6.1

Midjourney V6.1 arrived on 30 July 2024 and stayed the platform default until 16 June 2025 — the longest default run of any Midjourney generation to date. It produced more coherent images with finer detail and texture and generated roughly 25% faster than V6. Its lasting significance is structural rather than aesthetic: the V6.1 upscalers, Pan, Zoom Out and Editor tools are still what V7, V8.1 and V8.2 fall back on when those operations are requested, so the model keeps running underneath generations released years later.
