Mistral OCR 4.1, published on 16 July 2026, is a maintenance-scale successor to OCR 4.0 with one change that matters for anyone building on top of it: confidence scores are now reported for whole blocks of a page, not only for individual words and entire pages. In practice that closes an awkward gap. A table or a signature field could previously contain a few low-confidence words inside an otherwise clean page, and a downstream system had no way to reject that one region without discarding the page. Everything else carries over from OCR 4.0 — paragraph-level bounding boxes, typed block labels for titles, tables, equations, captions and signatures, reading order, and table extraction. Mistral prices it at four dollars per thousand pages, five when annotations are requested, and offers it through the standard document endpoint as well as batch processing. The company lists it as a Public Preview in the Premier tier, which means it is generally available and billed, but its behaviour may still change. Note that OCR 4.0 and OCR 3 remain listed as separate, still-served models rather than being folded into this release.
