Europe's answer to the cheap Chinese research humanoid: 1.32 m, 36 kg and a price that starts under 20,000 euro.
4NE1 Mini is the small, affordable member of NEURA Robotics' humanoid family - a 1.32 m, 36 kg machine aimed at universities, laboratories and developers rather than at factory floors. It matters less for what it can lift than for who builds it: until now the sub-20,000-euro research humanoid was effectively a Chinese product category, with Unitree's G1 and R1 setting the price. The Mini is the first Western-built machine to enter that bracket. The specification is honest about its purpose. Twenty-five degrees of freedom, a payload of about 3 kg and roughly two and a half hours of battery are enough for locomotion research, manipulation experiments and teaching, and nowhere near enough for industrial work - which is what the full-size 4NE1 is for. What the robot really sells is access: a Python SDK and a ROS 2 interface come as standard, so a laboratory can put its own controller on the machine on day one instead of negotiating for it. A Pro version raises the price and adds dexterous hands with 12 degrees of freedom, a C++ SDK and teleoperation tools for recording demonstrations. Announced pricing is 19,999 euro for the standard version and 29,999 euro for the Pro. One caveat applies to every figure here: NEURA's own product pages are not publicly readable - the site returns an access error to outside requests - so these specifications come from the company's launch communications as reported by the trade press rather than from a datasheet we could open ourselves. We will replace them the moment NEURA publishes a card of its own.
