UBTech's commercial-service humanoid: a 163 cm walking greeter and multilingual tour guide with only 20 joints and no hands worth the name.
Walker C is the branch of UBTech's humanoid family that does not go to work in a factory. Where Walker S1 and S2 are sold to carmakers to move parts, Walker C is sold to exhibition halls, hotels, service centres, supermarkets and transport hubs to meet people: it walks up, it talks, and it shows visitors where to go. UBTech gave it its own embodied interaction model and multilingual dialogue, and put it in front of the largest audience it could find — the robot served as the embodied-intelligence guide at the China Pavilion of Expo 2025 in Osaka, and also appeared at a Guangdong provincial reception in Hong Kong and at the 2025 Strawberry Music Festival. The specification explains what kind of machine that makes it. Walker C is 163 cm tall and weighs 43 kg, and its whole body contains 20 integrated joints: six in each leg and four in each arm. Four degrees of freedom is enough to raise an arm, point and gesture; it is not enough to work, and the manufacturer's table lists no hand at all — only an arm span of 500 mm and an arm weight of 5 kg. This is a robot built to be seen and heard rather than to carry, grip or assemble, and reading it as a cheaper Walker S would be a mistake. Perception is the part UBTech did not economise on: two RGBD cameras, in the head and in the chest, two full-scene binocular structured-light 3D cameras and a high-precision IMU. That is a sensor set for moving safely through a crowd of visitors, which is exactly the hard part of the job. Endurance sets the practical limit. The 48 V 15 Ah ternary-lithium pack — roughly 720 watt-hours — is rated for two hours of walking or four hours of standing, and needs an hour and a half to recharge. A venue that wants Walker C on the floor for a full day therefore needs either a charging break in the programme or a second machine. UBTech opens a joint-control interface and a sensor communication interface for integrators, and the robot connects over Wi-Fi and Bluetooth. The company does not publish a price.
