Walker S

Walker S is the machine that turned UBTech from a maker of service and education robots into an industrial humanoid company. It made its public debut on 29 December 2023 in Hong Kong, walking onto the stage of the Hong Kong Stock Exchange and striking the opening gong together with UBTech chairman Zhou Jian — the first time a humanoid robot performed a listing ceremony. UBTech listed that day as the first humanoid robot company on the HKEX main board. The robot is 170 cm tall, weighs 65 kg and carries 41 servo joints. Its actuators are rated by the manufacturer at up to 300 Nm of torque and up to 130 rpm, each arm reaches 600 mm, and electronic skin is offered as an option. The head is an 8-inch flexible curved AMOLED panel, surrounded by a six-microphone array giving 360-degree hearing, with multi-view stereo vision for sight. Runtime is given as roughly 2.5 hours on a battery designed to be removed and swapped rather than charged in place. What UBTech emphasises is perception rather than locomotion. Walker S builds a 3D semantic map from several high-resolution RGBD sensors, plans its own walking path and avoids obstacles in a live factory, and reads the 6D pose of structurally complex objects out of raw 3D point clouds before deciding how to grip them. Multi-dimensional force sensing, inertial measurement and ranging round out the sensor set. This is the generation UBTech sent into automotive plants for its first factory trials, and the direct ancestor of Walker S1 and Walker S2. A shorter sibling, Walker S Lite, shares the 41 joints and the 600 mm arm reach but stands 130 cm — while weighing 63 kg, almost as much as the full-size version. UBTech has not published a price for either machine.
